• As a senior in 2019, was nominated for the 2019 Campbell Award, given to the nation's top scholar athlete, and the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award for leadership. Also named a candidate for the Burlsworth Trophy, given to the top player in the nation who began their career as a walk-on.
• Earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2018 and 2019.
• In 2018, was named Second-Team All-MAC and led the country and set a school record with four blocked kicks. Also earned MAC Medal of Excellence for superior athletic and academic achievement.

Son of Reginald and Linda Gilliam and has two brothers, Travis and Philip.
