Bill Belichick Postgame Press Conference Transcript

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick addresses the media during his postgame press conference at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, November 6, 2011.

BB: Well, not much to say there. This was a tough game. We had our chances; we just came up a little short. We've got to keep working here and see if we can play a little better. The Giants are a good football team. They did a good job and we've just got to do a little better than we did.

Q: All week people were talking about the defense, but it seemed like a big part of this game was the offense.

BB: It was a hard-fought game and it came down to the last few seconds. We just came up a play or two short, that's all - across the board.

Q: How much were the first half struggles really the offense just not executing?

BB: I don't know. We try to go out there and do well every time we go out on the field. Sometimes it's better than others. We've just got to do a little bit better job.

Q: You scored on your last four drives at the end. What would you attribute the offensive turnaround to?

BB: The players. They did a good job. We just did better, [but] we didn't do it quite enough.

Q: What did you see on the Kyle Arrington pass interference call?

BB: You'd have to ask them about it; they called it. The last two calls were tough.

Q: The teams scored 44 points combined in the second half versus none in the first half. Was that just adjustments?

BB: I don't know.

Q: Were they throwing man coverage at you again like last week?

BB: They played some man. They mixed it up. They played some man. They pressured a little bit. They played some zone.

Q: You said the last two calls were rough. Did you mean that in that they were questionable or just the timing of them was tough?

BB: I mean, all of the above. That's a lot of yards on those two plays.

Q: That's more regular defense than we've seen Tracy White usually play. Was there a reason he was in there over Gary Guyton?

BB: Are you talking about the end of the game?

Q: Yes.

BB: [Brandon] Spikes went out, so that had a little bit to do with it.

Q: We saw a lot of Chad Ochocinco, but he and Tom Brady weren't really able to connect. Did you see anything there on that connection?

BB: No. The passes we missed, we've just got to do a better job on. We hit some and there're some we didn't hit. The ones we didn't hit, we'll just keep working on those. That included everybody.

Q: Could you put your finger on why it took a little while to jell offensively or what they were doing on defense that made it so difficult for you guys?

BB: No. Obviously if we could, we could have made it happen sooner. That's what we were trying to do. We did the best we could; it wasn't quite enough.

Q: Moving forward to the Jets, what kind of adjustments can you make this week?

BB: I don't know. We just put everything we had into this game. The game's been over for 10 minutes. We'll start working the Jets tomorrow and work on the Jets all week and get ready for the Jets. We really haven't been working on the Jets; we just finished the Giants game.
