FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots released first-year long snapper Jon Condo and first-year quarterback Todd Mortensen today.
Condo, 24, was signed by the Patriots as a free agent on January 30, 2006. The 6-foot-3-inch, 250-pound long snapper was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys on April 28, 2005. He played in three games for the Cowboys in 2005 and was released by Dallas on September 28, 2005.
Mortensen, 27, was signed by the Patriots as a free agent on January 6, 2006. The 6-foot-4-inch, 225-pound quarterback was originally signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2005. This spring, Mortensen was allocated by the Patriots to the NFL Europe League, where he played in six games with three starts for the Hamburg Sea Devils, recording a 3-0 record as a starter.
