Bills release TE Leak; sign OT Hand

The Buffalo Bills released tight end C.J. Leak from the practice squad and signed offensive tackle Randy Hand.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (Oct. 10, 2006) -- The Buffalo Bills released tight end C.J. Leak from the practice squad and signed offensive tackle Randy Hand.

Leak's departure comes a month after he attempted to restart his football career. Best known as the older brother of current Florida quarterback Chris Leak, C.J. Leak had been out of football since 2004. He had a star-crossed six-year college career that began at Wake Forest and ended at Tennessee, and included stints at quarterback, tight end, safety and linebacker.

Leak, who was undrafted, was working as an administrative assistant at Florida when the Bills signed him before their season opener last month.

Hand started 39 games at Florida and was signed in May by New England as an undrafted rookie free agent before being released by the Patriots last month.
