Giants' Strahan ties L.T.'s team sack record

Michael Strahan tied Lawrence Taylor for the New York Giants ' career sack lead with his second of the game Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

IRVING, Texas (Oct. 23, 2006) -- Michael Strahan tied Lawrence Taylor for the New York Giants ' career sack lead with his second of the game Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

Strahan had only one sack the first five games this season, but got to quarterback Drew Bledsoe for the second time early in the second quarter. That gave him 132 1/2 for his career, matching Taylor's total from 1982-93, which is also tied for seventh on the NFL list.

Taylor's total doesn't include the 9 1/2 sacks he had as a rookie in 1981, before that was an official statistic.

Leslie O'Neal also had 132 1/2 career sacks, in 13 NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers (1986, 1988-95), St. Louis Rams (1996-97) and Kansas City Chiefs (1998-99).
