If NFL teams stay on the same scoring pace while playing the same type of competitive games as they have through the first two weeks of the season, the 2000 season will be a record-breaking one.

NFL teams have scored 43.8 points per game through two weeks, which, if the pace holds, would be the highest per-game average for any NFL season since 1970.

Also, games are close. The average margin of victory in 2000 is 9.93 points, which would be the lowest since 1970.
