Reports: Patriots free agent running back Stevan Ridley now to visit Jets

Free agent running back is making his second visit within the AFC East this week.

Stevan Ridley seems to like the AFC East. Or maybe the AFC East likes the free agent running back.

The Patriots free agent visited the Dolphins earlier this week. Now, according to various reports, Ridley will land in New York this evening and visit with the Jets on Thursday.

Ridley is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 6 against the Bills last fall. That cut the former third-round pick's fourth season short after just 94 carries for 340 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

In his four seasons Ridley has rushed for 2,817 yards on 649 attempts (4.3 avg.) with 22 touchdowns. His best season came in 2012 when he rushed for 1,263 yards on 290 carries (4.4 avg.) with 12 touchdowns.

Ridley started five of the six games he played in for the Patriots in 2014, and 25 of the 52 games played in his four seasons in New England since joining the franchise in 2011 out of LSU.

The 5-11, 220-pound back has battled ball security issues throughout his career, finding himself on the bench and seemingly in Bill Belichick's "doghouse" after the many times he's put the ball on the ground. When he has been able to hold onto the football, though, Ridley has been the most consistently productive runner in New England over the last four seasons.

Ridley had previously been linked to the Cowboys earlier on in free agency.
