Locks: Chandler Jones, Rob Ninkovich, Jabaal Sheard
Bubble:Geneo Grissom, Trey Flowers, Zach Moore
Long shots: None
BREAKDOWN:Jones and Ninkovich are your incumbent starters at either end, with Sheard, a newcomer via free agency, likely competing for starting time and contributing on a rotational basis, at the very least. Rookie draft choices Grissom and Flowers have a decent shot to make the roster, but need to differentiate themselves. Moore, a promising rookie last season, must fight to keep his job. This is an interesting position to watch this summer, not least because Bill Belichick likes to be creative with his defensive fronts. It's not uncommon for him to insert ends as tackles and put multiple ends on the field at one time. That gives versatile players like the two rookies a better chance to stick. Moore or either of the rookies could be candidates for the practice squad if they don't land on the 53 come September.
