Patriots.com News Blitz - 8/18/2008

An analysis of the second preseason game against the Buccaneers, Lynch's return to Tampa Bay, and another look at the back up quarterbacks.  Also, the sad news of the passing of an ex-Patriot Owner in today's Patriots.com News Blitz.

The *Boston Herald *reports that former Patriot Owner James Orthwein has passed away at the age of 84. Orthwein owned the Patriots from 1992 to 1994 and eventualy sold the team to current owner Robert Kraft.

Last night's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was anything but pretty and proved that we are far from regular season form.

Once again, a low point from last night's game was the play of the back-up quarterbacks. Although there was improvement, a lot of work still needs to be done. The *Boston Globe *has more on QB's **Matt Cassel **and **Kevin O'Connell**.

Finally, last night marked a return to Tampa for S John Lynch, who played for the Buccaneers for 11 seasons and become one of the best Safeties in football.

"It's always nice to come back here," Lynch told the* Globe*. "The people treated us wonderfully. It seems like a long time ago now."
