Steelers' Hope agrees to one-year contract

Free safety Chris Hope agreed to a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

PITTSBURGH (April 15, 2005) -- Free safety Chris Hope agreed to a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers had the right to match any offer to Hope, and team signing him would have been required to give the Steelers a third-round draft pick.

Hope became a starter last season after two seasons as a backup, finishing second on the team with 97 tackles. He also made his first career interception.
