The New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans have met 41 times, dating back to when the Titans were the Houston Oilers (1960 – 1996). The Patriots hold a 24-16-1 record in the all-time series. Here's a look back at some memorable moments between the two teams, who have split their two playoff meetings, one game apiece.

Dec. 31, 1978. AFC Divisional Round ; Oilers 31, Patriots 14In the first postseason meeting between the two teams, the Oilers came into Foxborough and spoiled the Patriots' first home playoff game in franchise history. RB Earl Campbell ran 27 times for 118 yards and a touchdown and QB Dan Pastorini completed 12 of 15 passes for 200 yards and three TDs, two of which went to Mike Barber that gave Houston a 21-0 halftime lead that was never jeopardized.

Oct. 18, 1987. Patriots 21, Oilers 7Playing with some replacement players during the 1987 players' strike, QB Doug Flutie led the Patriots to a win in the Astrodome, passing for 199 yards and a touchdown. Raymond Clayborn blocked a field goal and returned it 71 yards for a score, as New England took a 21-7 lead into the half and pitched a second-half shutout.







Oct. 18, 2009. Patriots 59, Titans 0The Patriots won by the widest margin of victory in franchise history – and did it amid a snowstorm. Tom Brady threw a personal-best six touchdowns, including five in the first half as the Pats raced to a 45-0 halftime lead. Randy Moss had eight catches for 129 yards and three TDs and Wes Welker grabbed 10 passes for 150 yards and two scores.
