Funeral services for Steve Belichick, father of New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, have been scheduled for Nov. 23 at the U.S.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (Nov. 21, 2005) -- Funeral services for Steve Belichick, father of New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, have been scheduled for Nov. 23 at the U.S. Naval Academy.

The elder Belichick, who was an assistant football coach at Navy for 33 years through 1989, died of heart failure on Nov. 19 at the age of 86.

His son coached the Patriots to a 24-17 win Sunday over the New Orleans Saints, then left Foxborough, leaving assistant head coach Dante Scarnecchia in charge of preparations for next Sunday's game at Kansas City.

Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. EST Wednesday at the chapel on the grounds of the Naval Academy, with burial at the Naval Academy Cemetery.
