The Gillette Company and The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation have announced that Tuesday, October 12, 2004 will be Men's Health Day at Gillette Stadium. The event, expected to draw thousands of attendees, will provide men and their families with important consultations, information and suggestions on how to prevent and detect cancer, heart disease and other illnesses.

Some of Boston's leading health organizations, including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Boston Medical Center and American Red Cross will be participating in Men's Health Day. From 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., these and other groups will be on-site at the Stadium to offer free screenings for prostate cancer and skin cancer, blood pressure analysis and other valuable health, nutrition and fitness advice.

As part of a number of activities and fun surprises during Men's Health Day, men participating in the programs will have the chance to meet a member of the New England Patriots football team, cheerleaders and the team mascot Pat Patriot.

"Through our support of various health initiatives, Gillette has come to realize that men will too often neglect their health until something is wrong," said Cathleen Chizauskas, Vice President, Civic Affairs for The Gillette Company. "Our hope is that by holding Men's Health Day within the familiar and fun confines of Gillette Stadium, more men will become aware of the importance of regular screenings and take the next step to see their doctors regularly."

"We are delighted that Gillette Stadium, the site of so many thrilling victories for the Patriots during the last few years, will now be home to such an important event for men in New England," said Rena Clark, Vice President, Community Affairs and Corporate Philanthropy for The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation. "The New England Patriots are committed to supporting the health and well-being of families in New England and we believe that Men's Health Day will help us to communicate how a few simple steps can make all the difference in detecting and treating illness early."

Men's Health Day will be held from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 on the plaza section of Gillette Stadium. Members of the public can contact The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation at (508) 384-9245 for more information.
