The idea of finding a potential heir apparent for Tom Brady has been an ongoing storyline in New England for years. From Ryan Mallett to Jimmy Garoppolo to the next hot shot rookie in the draft, fans have been wondering if and when the Patriots identify the potential successor to the throne.

One rumor generating some steam during the owners’ meetings had Arizona looking to deal Josh Rosen, their first-round pick from a year ago. New coach Kliff Kingsbury has been quoted in the past about his affection for Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray, who most believe will be the first pick in the draft.

If the Cardinals wish to take Murray, then obviously dealing Rosen would make sense. Now some feel the Patriots could be in the mix for Rosen’s services.

NBC Sports Boston recaps a report that Joel Klatt of Fox Sports spoke of recently, linking Rosen to New England.

Meanwhile, The Boston Globe wonders if the new rule is about getting it right or getting home early.

NESN.com has some details on various players the Patriots plan to host for visits during the pre-draft process, including a tight end.

NBC Sports Boston has the news of Jerod Mayo joining the Patriots coaching staff.

In other news, the new Alliance of American Football league may be in trouble without help from the NFL.
