Chargers, DT Williams agree to extension

Chargers defensive tackle Jamal Williams agreed to a five-year contract extension through the 2010 season.

SAN DIEGO (May 26, 2005) -- Chargers defensive tackle Jamal Williams agreed to a five-year contract extension through the 2010 season.

Williams has been a starter since 2000 and was voted as a first alternate to the Pro Bowl last season after recording 32 tackles and four sacks.

Williams joined the Chargers as a second-round pick in the 1998 supplemental draft out of Oklahoma State.

Williams joins linebacker Steve Foley and wide receiver Keenan McCardell as veterans who have gotten contract extensions from the Chargers in the offseason. The Chargers also extended the contracts of coach Marty Schottenheimer and general manager A.J. Smith.
