Injuries may leave Bills without top RTs

Starter Mike Williams missed practice Oct. 26 and backup Greg Jerman is out, leaving the Buffalo Bills without their top two right tackles as they prepare for New England.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2005) -- Starter Mike Williams missed practice Oct. 26 and backup Greg Jerman is out, leaving the Buffalo Bills without their top two right tackles as they prepare for New England.

Williams, who's nursing a sore left ankle, is listed as questionable while Jerman is out after spraining his right ankle in a 38-17 loss to Oakland on Oct. 23. Williams was also hurt against Oakland but returned to finish the game.

"It's a concern," coach Mike Mularkey said. "Any time you make a change, especially on the offensive line, you've got to be concerned about it."

Jason Peters, a converted tight end, practiced in place of Williams.

Right guard Chris Villarrial practiced Oct. 26. He didn't finish the Oakland game after suffering a mild concussion.

The Bills offensive line has been banged up all season, part of the reason why the Bills (3-4) are off to an inconsistent start. Williams just returned to the lineup against Oakland after missing three starts because of the left ankle injury. Villarrial has been in and out of the lineup with an assortment of injuries.
