Allen may get first start

With rookie Kevin Faulk questionable for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, veteran Terry Allen may be the Patriots starting running back.

With rookie Kevin Faulk questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Giants, veteran Terry Allen may be the Patriots starting running back.

Head Coach Pete Carroll said the team will not decide on a starter until after Friday's practice, but he did say that Faulk sat out Wednesday's practice. Also questionable for the Giants game are offensive linemen Zefross Moss and Heath Irwin.

"Yesterday Zefross practiced a little bit to try to get some work, as did Heath," Carroll said Thursday. "We're trying to take things slowly with these guys. We held Kevin Faulk out of practice yesterday, and we'll see what he can do today. We're going to try to creep along through the week and see if we can get these guys back."

Moss and Irwin missed the win over Indianapolis, as Ed Ellis and Max Lane started in their respective positions. It is not yet determined what the starting line will be if either Moss or Irwin can't go Sunday. The most likely scenario would have Irwin at left guard and Lane at right tackle.
