Bears sign Friedman, place Currie on IR

The Chicago Bears signed offensive lineman Lennie Friedman to a one-year contract and placed receiver Airese Currie on injured reserve.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Nov. 29, 2005) -- The Chicago Bears signed offensive lineman Lennie Friedman to a one-year contract and placed receiver Airese Currie on injured reserve.

The Bears also released wide receiver Eric Hill from the practice squad.

Friedman, a six-year NFL player, played for the Washington Redskins the past two seasons. He was drafted by Denver and spent his first three seasons with the Broncos.

Currie was the Bears' fifth-round draft choice in April. He had 138 receptions and 10 touchdowns in four seasons at Clemson.

Currie has been on the non-football injury list since the beginning of the season because of a foot problem.
