Bills put rookie TE Everett on PUP list

Bills rookie tight end Kevin Everett is expected to miss the start of the season after the team placed him on the physically unable-to-perform list.

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (Aug. 11, 2005) -- Bills rookie tight end Kevin Everett is expected to miss the start of the season after the team placed him on the physically unable-to-perform list.

The move was made Aug. 10 when the third-round draft pick signed his contract and joined Buffalo in training camp.

Everett is still recovering after having surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left knee, which he hurt in a minicamp last April.

Selected 86th overall out of Miami, Everett will continue working out on his own and could begin practicing midway through the season. That's when the team will determine whether to activate him or have him sit out the rest of the year.

It generally takes players four to six months to recuperate from such an injury.
