Colts left tackle Ugoh loses starting job

Indianapolis left tackle Tony Ugoh is committed to regaining his starting job this preseason.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indianapolis left tackle Tony Ugoh is committed to regaining his starting job this preseason.

Colts coach Jim Caldwell has replaced Ugoh with Charlie Johnson, and Johnson is expected to start Friday's preseason opener at home against Minnesota.

Caldwell said he told Ugoh of the decision before organized team activities, and Ugoh didn't improve enough during the offseason to change Caldwell's mind.

Ugoh started 23 regular season games over the last two seasons, all at left tackle. Johnson started 12 games at right tackle and four games at left tackle.

Johnson was recovering from a torn pectoral muscle. When he returned Monday, he was on the first unit.
