Exclusive rights free agents Antico Dalton and Reggie Grimes re-signed with the New England Patriots Friday.
Dalton played three games with the Patriots last season and recorded three special teams tackles. He was signed to the Patriots practice squad on Nov. 28 and was elevated to the active roster on Dec. 7. The 6-1, 240-pound linebacker was originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 1999 NFL draft.
As a rookie the Hampton product played in two games and was inactive for three others. He was released after the fifth game and was re-signed to the Vikings practice squad, where he spent the remainder of his rookie campaign. He was released by the Vikings on Aug. 27, prior to the start of the 2000 regular season.
Grimes, 24, played in eight games for the Patriots in 2000. He was originally signed as a rookie free agent on April 19, 2000. The 6-foot-4-inch, 290-pound defensive end was a four-year letterman at Alabama (1996-99), where he recorded 74 tackles, including 20 for losses, and nine sacks.
