Dolphins cut OL St. Clair, sign CB Thomas

Offensive lineman John St. Clair was released by the Miami Dolphins, who signed free agent cornerback Kiwaukee Thomas.

DAVIE, Fla. (Sept. 7, 2005) -- Offensive lineman John St. Clair was released by the Miami Dolphins, who signed free agent cornerback Kiwaukee Thomas.

St. Clair started 14 games at tackle last season, but slipped to a backup role at guard during the preseason under new coach Nick Saban.

Thomas was released last week by the Jacksonville Jaguars after five seasons with them.

Rookie fullback Kyle Eckel was placed on Miami's reserve-military list after being called up by the Navy. Eckel, who attended the Naval Academy, joined the Dolphins on Sept. 4 after being released by New England.

The Dolphins signed guard Joe Berger off the Carolina Panthers' practice squad.
