MIAMI (April 3, 2006) -- The Miami Dolphins re-signed running back Sammy Morris to a one-year contract. Morris had been an unrestricted free agent.
Morris played in 16 games, including two starts for the Dolphins in 2005, his second season with the team after being signed as an unrestricted free agent from Buffalo. Last year, Morris rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown on 16 attempts, and caught eight passes for 54 yards. In addition, he led the Dolphins' special teams unit with 16 tackles.
In his two seasons with Miami, Morris has 581 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on 148 carries, and has caught 30 passes for 178 yards. Originally a fifth-round draft choice of the Bills in 2000, Morris has appeared in 82 games in his career, starting 19. He has 1,069 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns on 282 attempts and 91 receptions for 630 yards and one score.
