DAVIE, Fla. (July 26, 2006) -- The Miami Dolphins signed defensive tackle Frederick Evans, the first of their three seventh-round draft choices, to a four-year contract.
Evans was the 212th player selected in the 2006 draft after a two-year career at Texas State, where he started all 24 games in which he played.
Evans was the Southland Conference newcomer of the year in 2004. He had 33 tackles, including 17 1/2 for loss, and led the team with 6 1/2 sacks.
He followed that by earning the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year award in 2005 with 55 tackles, including 18 for loss, and a league-leading five sacks.
