Eagles sign TE Whalen to two-year deal

The Philadelphia Eagles signed veteran tight end James Whalen to a two-year contract.

PHILADELPHIA (Feb. 22, 2005) -- The Philadelphia Eagles signed veteran tight end James Whalen to a two-year contract.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Whalen had 17 career catches for 152 yards in three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who drafted him in the fifth round in 2000.

Whalen set NCAA single-season marks for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns for a tight end in his season year at Kentucky, when he caught 90 passes for 1,019 yards and 10 touchdowns.
