Skill position players and centers will be in camp by March 13. Among the headliners arriving is New England backup quarterback Michael Bishop, who is expected to run the Frankfurt Galaxy offense this season. Also showing up early will be wide receivers Tony Simmons, Tony Hamler and Sean Morey, who also will spend time working as a cornerback.

The Patriots have five other players who will be reporting this week. Safety Tony George; cornerback Kato Serwanga; offensive lineman Josh Rawlings; linebacker John Eskridge and punter Brad Costello will be among the record 229 players allocated by NFL teams who will be in camp by March 19.

The players will be in camp until April 12, at which time teams will fly overseas for the start of the regular season. The 2001 NFL Europe League season will begin April 21 and will conclude with the 2001 World Bowl on June 30 in Amsterdam.
