New England is hoping free agent pickup Raymont Harris will improve a ground attack that gained less than 1,500 yards last season.

The Patriots averaged 3.4 yards a carry in 1999, and recently released Terry Allen led the team with 896 yards and a 3.5 yards-per-carry average. Harris has averaged 3.7 yards a carry for his career on 671 attempts.

His best season was in 1997 when Harris gained 1,033 yards on 275 carries. His career-high in five seasons is 10 touchdowns, which is two better than Allen had last season for the Patriots.
