Hobbs honored

Patriots 2005 third round pick Ellis Hobbs was honored this week by Iowa State University for his standout play last season.

]()Patriots rookie cornerback Ellis Hobbs was named Iowa State's male athlete of the year this week.

The Desoto, Texas, intercepted five passes this season on his way to being named first team All-Big 12. His five picks, including one which he returned for a touchdown, were the most by an Iowa State player since Barry Hill had nine in 1974. He also finished his senior season with 71 tackles and an 11-yard sack. His final interception of the season helped preserve a 17-13 Independence Bowl win over Miami (Ohio).

Hobbs, who was the Patriots third round pick, 84th overall, was also a National Honor Society member and a three-time ISU Scholar-Athlete
