The Jacksonville Jaguars signed backup quarterback David Garrard to a contract extension and re-signed restricted free-agent linebacker Akin Ayodele to a tender offer.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 21, 2005) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed backup quarterback David Garrard to a contract extension and re-signed restricted free-agent linebacker Akin Ayodele to a tender offer.

Garrard played in four games and started two last season when starter Byron Leftwich was sidelined with a sprained knee ligament. Garrard went 1-1 and finished the year with 374 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also rushed 12 times for 76 yards and a score.

Ayodele started every game at outside linebacker last season and finished second on the team with 131 tackles. It was his third consecutive 100-tackle season. He also had two sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and blocked a field goal.
