Initial comments ...
Any update on Will Campbell?
"I don't have an update on anybody right now unfortunately. I appreciate you guys all talking about injuries this week. Thanks."
How much of a battle was this physically and mentally from start to finish?
"That's what happens in this league. You need everybody to go through the season. You go on the road and you know it's tough and nobody wants to talk about numbers and records — that doesn't mean (crap)."
How about Andy Borregales and his kicks?
"Huge. Those are great, and we appreciate what he's done. I think he has a lot of confidence there and in the operation. We had gone through four or five different combinations on the field, and you lose linemen and now you have Farm (Joshua Farmer), (Cory) Durden, Morgan (Moses) — there's a lot of moving parts. So, give those guys credit for being able to jump in there and help us like it."
It's been a while since your team faced a double-digit deficit. What did you see from your team when down 10-0?
"I think we settled down. They gave us one back and that gave us a little bit of life there offensively. So, we settled down. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was just enough."
Looks like Hunter Henry was able to make some nice catches for you down the stretch as well as the touchdown ...
"Yeah. And again, big plays. It's first-and-20 and we throw it at Hunter (Henry). (Stefon) Diggs — every receiver wants production. And while we find them as many times as today, he turned and blocked. We went from a holding penalty to first-and-20, and then converting. That gave us a spark there. So, Hunter was huge. Everybody's battling late this season."
What happened on the goal line stance?
"What happened? We didn't score any. You have to score, whoever you call. It'll be a good learning opportunity for us in a lot of phases. It shows just how important and how critical the week of practice is and being ready to go because you never know when your opportunity is going to come. You need to make sure that everybody's on the same page. And there were a lot of moving parts today."
Was there anything limiting Drake Maye today? He didn't look like himself at times ...
"Limiting? Probably mentally, not his best performance, but give him credit. I think he came up big with some good throws and I'm sure there's a couple that he'd like to have back."
You often talk about effort, efficiency and finish. How did it feel to see K'Lavon Chaisson get a piece of Joe Flacco there at the end and to see Carlton Davis III with a couple pass breakups down the stretch?
"Yeah. And having that penalty called on him, and then coming back and still being able to challenge and stab — and I didn't think he was too bad on the PI (pass interference). Maybe he was. But then again, to have that called on you and to come over there and be able to challenge and finish is a testament to him. And Andy (Borregales) making the kick and making it a touchdown game allowed us just enough time to get them stopped on fourth down."
You coached a Tennessee Titans team that suffered a lot of injuries. What did you learn from that season that you can apply to this year?
"Prepare as a starter. Be ready to go and take advantage of the opportunities."
What impressed you most about the defense in the final series?
"I was just trying to mix everybody in there and try to make sense of pressure and give us, the coaching staff, a chance. Great job by them. Great job by the players to be able to get a call in there quickly. They made sense of pressure. They made sense of the man in a 'I have to have it' situation there, and being able to force a quarterback to get rid of the football."
On Friday you talked about the speed in which the team recovers from a good play or a bad play ...
"We need some work at that. Everybody, me included. We need to keep coaching these guys and we'll respond. But I think you know we can focus on that and the speed in which we recover. These are long games, and they are decided by a few plays. In the end, we made a couple more than they did."
You talked about the joy of the game. How difficult was it in the locker room after because Jared Wilson and Will Campbell went down? It was kind of a tough day physically for a lot of you guys ...
Injuries — we talk about it. It's a part of the game. But they were able to spend some time with Jahlani (Tavai) back home. That was cool. Again, we'll look to rejoin him here shortly. So, I think that was the biggest thing. We'll get those guys back from injury. However it is, our staff will do a great job and players will work hard. So, they have to be ready to go. Nobody's going to feel sorry for us."

How much of a grind was that? Were you physically OK the entire game? You looked like you were shaking your hand after hitting it on a helmet on one of your early throws. What was it like for you and to grind through it as team?
"That's what this league is about — battling adversity. I gave them one early in the game and just battled back on the next drive. Just trying to have a 'next play' mentality. That's what coach (Mike Vrabel) is preaching all the time, battling back from good plays and battling back from bad plays. I'm proud of our defense. They stepped up big time. It's 'next man up.' We had a lot of guys come in, make plays and help us out. I'm proud of them. It's good to get that 10th win."
How emotional was it to see Jared Wilson and Will Campbell get carted off and see what they were going through?
"Shoot, I love those guys. They're going to be alright. That's the big thing about those guys — they are going to work hard and they are going to be back. They've done such a good job for us this year. Will and Jared have meant a lot to me. I have gotten to know them in different ways. It's disappointing. That's this game. That's life. They'll bounce back and help us down the road."
How would you describe your emotions right now?
"You feel empty. You're playing so hard for everyone around you. My thoughts are with Jahlani (Tavai) and what he's going through. I love Jahlani. There are so many different things coming at you. That's what's cool about this game. It's such a team sport. Guys rally around each other and play for one another. We'll laugh, create good times and realize how blessed we are, and thank the good lord for the chance to play this game and go out there and battle."
It looked like they sent some pressure from the secondary at you today. Was it surprising at all to see them blitz you like that?
"They had some good stuff that I didn't do well directing or get us in the right looks. I have to be better at the line of scrimmage. Credit to them for catching us on some. I have to do my part to help us play cleaner football and punch it in down in the red zone. I take that to heart, and I'll be better."
Did you feel like the ball was coming out differently on some of your misses early in the game?
"Not that I can think of. Sometimes you just have to let it go. That's when I'm throwing it best and on time. I wasn't very accurate early on, but I found a groove. Just head back to the basics."
What enabled you to find Hunter Henry so often today? How big was he for you in coming through time and time again?
"It's a new guy every week. He's a great player in this league. Him and Hoop (Austin Hooper) give us a one-two punch at the tight end position, whether it be running the football or in the passing game. They do a great job, and Hunter is 'Mr. Consistent.' He is every week."
When you aren't as accurate as you usually are, does it feel strange to you?
"No. Just get back to the little things and the fundamentals. I just need another live throw to get back at it and you feel fine. It's just one of those things that happens. I don't really think it's a big deal. Just have to get back in the groove."
Recently, you referred to the offensive line as the heartbeat of the team. With Jared Wilson and Will Campbell going out, what is it about that group that makes you feel like that can continue?
"They have a lot of fun in that room. They care for each other. Shoot, they're always laughing and hanging out outside of football. They go do things. They're just a tight-knit group. I'm proud to be the one behind center with those guys. Credit to them for just showing up every week. Coming in here, I think you had Ben Brown, Marcus Bryant come in for a little bit, so those guys are just ready to go. I'm just proud to have those guys block for me."
ADDITIONAL PATRIOTS PLAYERS
CB CHRISTIAN GONZALEZ
How would you describe this game in totality?
"Yeah, this is the NFL. Team's look good — it's going to come down to the wire. Props to them. They came out and fought, and it's just hard to get wins in this league, and it was a good win."
You've been around here for a couple years now. Ten wins at this point in the year, you have to be proud of that, especially when guys are going down ...
"Yeah, we came in saying we wanted to be the first team to get to 10 wins, and we were able to do that. (We will) enjoy this on the plane, like every week, and get right back to it for the Giants next week."
Mike Vrabel mentioned that you were able to share a moment as a team with Jahlani Tavai. Can you describe what that moment was like for you guys?
"He came in, and everybody got in on the FaceTime, and just talked to him. It's been great to be able to talk to him, see his face, see the smiles, and (we have) just continuous praise for him and his family, and we love him like a brother. So we're just continuing to pray for him, and asking everybody to pray for him as well."
How much of that was a grind today? You had some injuries — a lot going on — and guys were coming in and out at the end. How was that for you guys?
"Yeah, it was a battle. Any game is. It's the NFL, so it's hard to get wins. Being able to face some adversity, and being down as a defense, and being able to come back and get it done — shout out to the offense, who did a lot today and did some really good things. We'll watch the film, and learn a lot from this game."
CB MARCUS JONES
How much of a challenge start to finish was that for you guys with the injuries, and coming up with big plays down the stretch to pull out the win?
"Yeah, it's the National Football League. Any given Sunday. You have to make sure you are consistent when it comes down to it. We have a lot of things to correct, and we came out with the win."
What did you see on your pick-six?
"Yeah, basically I was just watching the quarterback's eyes. I saw him flash toward the running back, so I didn't want to go down there too soon. Just tried to time it up, and I timed it up just in time."
You gave them that Cover-2 look and you were inside, so it ended up being like a Cover-6. You saw him in the flats, and then you hit it ...
"Yeah, I kind of just saw it from the sense of matching the back ... I saw him go through the progressions, and then I went from there."
Football is an emotional game. Coach Vrabel said you had a moment with Jahlani Tavai, and you had a couple guys carted off. How would you describe the emotion you're feeling at this point?
"Yeah, first off, Jahlani is my guy. It's just one of those situations where we hate it for him and everything, but when it comes down to football, he loves the game of football. We definitely did it for him, but also the guys that ended up getting injured. We hate it, but it's part of the game. The support system is very important, but then you always want to be able to end up playing the game when they're healthy, for sure."
Christian Gonzalez talked about the smile on Jahlani's face when you were FaceTiming with him. What did you see?
"Yeah, just seeing him smiling, and full of joy. We're glad to get the 'W' for him."
How about that last drive? I think you guys were out there for 13 plays. Guys were coming out, and it looked like it took everybody from your defense ...
"Yeah, when it comes to defense — the team in general — it always takes all 11. You never know when your time comes, and you take advantage each time you get. That's the main thing. At the end of the day, we got to get the drop stop. We appreciate it all the time with defense, so we got a drop stop."
RB TREVEYON HENDERSON
How much of a grind was that for you guys today?
"Yeah, it was a battle. It was a tough one for sure. I try to suspect that going in each week, not looking at the record. I don't really pay too much attention to the records of the team, because I know in the NFL every week is always going to be a dog fight. Thank God we got through that, and came out with the win."
What were your thoughts on the offense and the struggle to get one yard in close?
"Yeah, it's tough. That's something we definitely have to continue to work on, and it starts with practice. I know Coach Vrabel is going to continue to do a good job with pushing us and helping us to get better when it comes to that."
That's the second time practice has been brought up. Was it not as clean a week as maybe others? Getting to that point of the year where guys are tired?
"Yeah, of course guys are tired, people are sore — that's pretty much the norm. But I think Coach Vrabel does a good job each and every practice just pushing us and demanding the best, and that's a blessing."
How would you describe the emotions after a game like this?
"This team has been through a lot. I feel like a lot of times, people can just look at us athletes as if everything is perfect in our lives and we've got it all figured out. But we don't. We're people who go through things just like everyone else. We're people who struggle just like everyone else as well. I wish people could see that more, but it's hard when people just see us as football players, and we're humans just like everyone else. We're no better than others just because of the fame and the money ... I try to help people understand that in the eyes of God — God loves us all equally, and we're all equally valuable. So, I wish people can see us more as humans instead of football players. I'm praying for those guys."
What was it like having Rhamondre Stevenson back today?
"It felt good. It's going to be a long season, so we need all hands on deck. He brings a lot of life to the running back room, so it was good to have him back here."
TE HUNTER HENRY
You can breathe a little better. How much of a grind was that one?
"Yeah, it was a 60-minute battle, and it took everybody. Took everybody that came on the trip. Obviously, a lot of guys went down today, unfortunately. And a lot of guys had to step up, and they did, and found a way. That's really what it's about."
Can you talk a little about your touchdown being for Jahlani Tavai?
"Yeah, I'm not going to get into details on his situation. Obviously, he's not here with us, and we just wanted him to know how much we love him, how much we care for him, and how much we care for everything he's got going on, so I'm going to take a lot of pride. We're brothers. I've been playing with him for a few years now and gotten close with him. Just wanted him to know he's loved."
How good was it to FaceTime with him?
"Oh, it was great. It was great. For him to be a part of that, there's nothing like a winning locker room."
Walk through the touchdown pass. It looked like you were extraordinarily wide open ...
"Yeah it was a pretty good scheme by (offensive coordinator) Josh (McDaniels) and the whole coaching staff. (They) just called it at the right time and hit a great call, and guys protected. It takes all 11 guys. Guys run the routes to clear things out, (and the) spacing was good. A lot of guys stepped up in a big way."
It took the offense a little time to get going, but you and Austin Hooper really provided a security blanket for Drake Maye today to finally get into his groove. What kind of pride do you take in being that type of target for him on a weekly basis?
"Yeah, I take a lot of pride in what I do. I work extremely hard at my craft, and for this game, I put a lot of hours into this, and a lot of hours with Drake too. It's cool to go out there and make some plays — both me and Hoop — and to be able to provide a little bit of a spark. We need to be a lot better in a lot of areas, but it was cool to be able to get things going a little bit."
