Patriots lose in overtime to the Steelers

The Patriots dropped a 24-21 overtime decision to the Pittsburgh Steelers at Foxboro Stadium. This was only the Patriots second loss at home all season.

The Steelers capitialized on a touchdown pass from Kordell Stewart to Mark Bruener and then tied the game on a two point conversion pushing it into overtime.
The Steelers won the overtime coin toss and drove the ball 61 yards down the field to set up the Norm Johnson game-winning field goal.
Despite injuries to starters Terry Glenn, Curtis Martin, and Mark Wheeler the Patriots performed well. They transformed two first half interceptions into touchdowns.
Bledsoe threw his first interception in 120 passes in the third quarter, which led to a Johnson field goal. His second interception pushed the Patriots into overtime and dashed their hopes for a first-round playoff bye.
