FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (March 16, 2006) -- The New England Patriots released cornerback Tyrone Poole.

Poole played in six games the last two seasons because of various injuries. In 2003, he started every game for the Patriots and tied for the team lead with six interceptions.

The 10-year veteran played with Carolina, Indianapolis and Denver before signing with New England.

Poole didn't play in 2005 after getting hurt in the season opener against Oakland. In 2004, he started four of the first five games but played in only one after that before going on injured reserve.
