FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that they have released WR Malcolm Mitchell.

Mitchell, 25, was originally drafted by New England in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Georgia. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder appeared in 14 regular-season games with six starts as a rookie and totaled 32 receptions for 401 yards and four touchdowns. He started both postseason contests he appeared in and caught seven passes for 75 yards. In Super Bowl LII vs. Atlanta, Mitchell caught six passes for 70 yards, helping the Patriots overcome a 25-point deficit to win in overtime.

Mitchell suffered an injury during the 2017 preseason and spent the year on injured reserve.
