Patriots shuffle things along lines

The Patriots were forced to make some changes in their starting lineup along both lines.

Injuries and transactions have left some questions up front for the Patriots – on both sides of the ball.

The trade of Logan Mankins put a question mark at left guard, not to mention the identity of the starters at center and right guard. Sunday's opener in Miami sawBill Belichick open with a group of Nate Solder, Marcus Cannon, Dan Connolly, Jordan Devey and Sebastian Vollmer from left to right.

There were reports during the week that indicated the Patriots were thinking about moving Vollmer from right tackle to left guard with Cannon staying at right tackle, where he finished last season. Devey, who saw extensive action in the preseason, got the starting call at right guard.

On defense, the Patriots opened in a 3-4 with Vince Wilfork at the nose flanked by Joe Vellano and Sealver Siliga.
