The Patriots preseason slate has been set, and for the second consecutive season New England will play a regular season opponent in an exhibition game.

New England's four-game preseason schedule has Washington and the New York Giants coming to Foxboro. Tampa Bay and Carolina will host the Patriots. The Panthers are one of the away teams on New England's 2001 schedule. A year ago New England and Tampa Bay played a preseason game on Aug. 20 and then opened the regular season against each other two weeks later.

The exhibition schedule for the Patriots has not changed too much over the last few years. Barring any changes to the games, the Washington game will be the fourth such game in four years. It will also mark the third straight preseason in which New England will play the Buccaneers and Panthers.

Dates and times for the games have not been determined.
