Rams' Bulger sprains throwing shoulder

St. Louis quarterback Marc Bulger sprained his right shoulder in the second quarter of the Rams game with the Indianapolis Colts.

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 17, 2005) -- St. Louis quarterback Marc Bulger sprained his right shoulder in the second quarter of the Rams game with the Indianapolis Colts.

Backup Jamie Martin replaced him.

Bulger was injured when he was blocked by Indianapolis linebacker David Thornton after Cato June had intercepted a pass. Bulger walked off the field holding his shoulder and was taken to the locker room for X-rays. He returned to the sideline wearing his jersey but without shoulder pads. He had a bag of ice taped to his shoulder.

He was 6-for-8 for 121 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Curtis.

Bulger missed two games last season with a shoulder injury after being hurt against San Francisco on Dec. 5.
