Can I keep my current RI license plate number?

Yes. When you switch to a Patriots license plate your current number is transferred to the new plate.

What if I currently have five or fewer digits on my RI license plate?

If you currently have five or fewer digits on your RI license plate, please fill out the Patriots RI license plate order form and return it with payment and a copy of your current registration to the address on the order form.

What if I currently have a six-digit RI license plate?

Unfortunately we can only fit five or fewer digits on the Patriots background. If you currently have a six-digit RI license plate, you will need to transfer your current license plate to a five-digit license plate through the DMV. Once you have your five-digit license plate, please fill out the RI Patriots license plate order form and submit it accordingly.

Where do I send the Patriots RI license plate order form?

Please fill out the attached order form. Once complete, please mail the form, payment and a copy of your registration to:

Can I pick the letter/number combination on my Patriots RI license plate?

In order to pick a particular letter/number combination, it is necessary to transfer your current RI license plate to that particular letter/number combination (through the DMV). Once that is completed, please fill out the Patriots RI license plate order form and submit it accordingly.

How much does a Patriots RI license plate cost?

The cost of a Patriot RI license plate is $42.50 above the normal registration fee. $22.50 will go into the state's general fund and $20 will go to the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation.

How much does it cost to renew my Patriots RI license plate?

It costs $10 annually to renew your Patriots RI license plate, all of which goes to the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation.

How long will it take to get my Patriots RI license plate?

After you have successfully ordered your plate, it generally takes approximately 10-12 weeks to process your order. Based on the time of the year, some orders may take a little longer to process. As soon as your plate is ready, you will receive a letter in the mail with instructions on picking up your new plate at the Cranston DMV.

Do I have to live in Rhode Island to obtain the Patriots RI license plate?

Yes, you have to live in Rhode Island to obtain a RI Patriots license plate, as it is necessary to have the license plate registered.

Do I have to register the Patriots RI license plate?

Yes, all Patriots RI license plates need to be registered with the DMV.

All of the money raised through the Patriots RI license plate program will be earmarked for programs and organizations in Rhode Island.
