The New England Patriots waived rookie free agent wide receiver Scott McCready Monday.
McCready signed with the Patriots as a non-drafted rookie following the 2001 NFL draft on April 27, 2001. The 6-0, 200-pound receiver lettered at South Florida, where he led the team with 37 receptions for 517 yards and 6 touchdowns as a senior in 2000. He was born Feb. 1, 1977 in London, England, but earned all-district and all-conference selection as a senior at King High in Tampa, Fla. before attending South Florida.
