Special-teamer Mikell re-signs with Eagles

Safety and special-teams standout Quintin Mikell signed a four-year contract to remain with the Philadelphia Eagles, team officials announced.

PHILADELPHIA (Feb. 27, 2007) -- Safety and special-teams standout Quintin Mikell signed a four-year contract to remain with the Philadelphia Eagles, team officials announced.

Mikell, 26, had been scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent March 2.

A four-year player out of Boise State, Mikell was the Eagles' special-teams MVP the past two seasons after signing as a rookie free agent.

Mikell led the Eagles with 35 special-teams tackles this season and came up with a big fourth-and-goal stop against the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas. In 2005, he blocked a field-goal attempt that was returned 65 yards for a game-winning touchdown.
