Stephen Gostkowski named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October

New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October by the National Football League.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October by the National Football League. It is the fourth time in Gostkowski's career that he has earned Player of the Month honors and the first time since September 2015. He also earned AFC Player of the Month in October 2008 and October 2013.

Gostkowski converted 11-of-12 field goal attempts, 15-of-15 extra points and kicked 17 touchbacks during October, while New England finished the month with a perfect 4-0 record. Additionally, Gostkowski became the 19th kicker in NFL history to reach 350 career field goals after connecting on five field goals in the win over Kansas City on Oct. 14. He enters Week 9 as the NFL's leading scorer among kickers with 77 points.

Now in his 13th season, Gostkowski is the Patriots all-time leading scorer with 1,690 points and 357 career field goals. He owns the top-three scoring seasons in team history and became the first player in NFL history with five 150-point seasons after scoring 156 points in 2017. In addition to four career Special Teams Player of the Month Awards, Gostkowski has also won six Player of the Week Awards, most recently following Week 11 in 2017 after converting four field goals and a franchise-record 62-yard kick in a win over the Oakland Raiders.
