HEAD COACH KEVIN STEFANSKI

Postgame Press Conference
Sunday, October 26, 2025

KS: Injury front, Carson has an ankle injury. Don't have much more information on that. We'll get some imaging on that tomorrow. Obviously just didn't do anything good enough today. Frustrated, but we'll win as a team, we'll lose as a team, and we'll look at everything on this bye week and figure out a way to get this thing going with more than half our season left. That's what we're going to use this bye week to really look at everything we're doing because the results have to be better, obviously. But with that, I'll take any questions.

Q: (Indiscernible).

KS: Yeah, when I say look at everything, when you lose like this, you have to look at everything. Every position, everything I'm doing. There's just -- it's frustrating for where we are as a team. Every position you have to look at. But let me say that with a young quarterback, you understand there's going to be ups and downs.

Q: Do you feel like this wide receiving group is good enough for you given an accurate evaluation of whoever plays quarterback?

KS: Yeah, we need to do a better job. I need to do a better job, obviously. Jerry [Jeudy] needs to get the football. We have to do a better job.

Q: (Indiscernible).

KS: A variety of reasons, but it doesn't matter. We've got to get him the ball ^ check.

Q: (Indiscernible).

KS: I just want to make the point that we just have to be better in every area, and we'll look at everything we do, including how we're putting these guys in position to succeed. Are we doing enough -- when I say looking at every position, are we doing enough with the quarterback position, do we need to do a better job, and I think I know the answer is yes.

Q: You say you're going to look at everything. Is Myles Garrett included in that?

KS: Yeah, listen, it's a team game. We'll win as a team, lose as a team.

Q: (Indiscernible).

KS: Yeah, obviously credit to them. They did a good job. We have to find a way to stay on the football field, stay out of 3rd down. If we are in 3rd down, we have to convert.

Q: On John's shoulder, is there something you're looking at short-term –

KS: I'll have more information tomorrow, but I'm hopeful that he'll be okay.

Q: (Indiscernible).

KS: Yeah, there's a bunch of different things that we can look at. Obviously with our defensive front, there's teams attacking us in certain ways, and that's always been the case, really, in this defense. We have ways to combat it, and obviously there's going to be times when you have to give them credit, but there's things that we can do.

Q: (Indiscernible) was there any more he could have done?

KS: Yeah, tried to -- we knew that that's a good run defense going into this, but just felt like there were a couple missed opportunities there.

Q: Does that include also potentially exploring somebody else –

KS: We have to look at everything. I think that it's important.

Q: There's a trade deadline coming up. Do you feel like you need to look at certain personnel –

KS: Yeah, I'll let Andrew [Berry] and our personnel department look at those things. We talk every day. We understand where we are, and we like the guys we have.

Q: How valuable (indiscernible)?

KS: Yeah, obviously you're hoping to go into the bye off of a win, but the bottom line is we're a 2-6 football team, and we've got to find a way to turn that around.

Q: There was that one possession where you tried a couple trick plays. Was that just to get something going?

KS: Yeah, those are plays we've run in the past. Felt that we'd have an opportunity on those. But again, give them credit.

QUARTERBACK DILLON GABRIEL

Postgame Press Conference
Sunday, October 26, 2025

Q: How tough sledding was it out there for you guys today with trying to get things going?

DG: Yeah, needed to and didn't.

Q: You guys have the bye week coming up. Are you going to take this time to kind of just regroup, or what can you do to try to improve your own game out there?

DG: Yeah, we need to. It starts with me. I've got to find solutions and make sure the outcome changes. But it's not, so we have to work on that.

Q: Drake Maye is a young quarterback finding his footing in the NFL. What do you like about his game?

DG: Yeah, he's just been playing at a really high level this year.

Q: That first series, everything was working so well for you guys. Then as you guys kind of got away from – got off script, it seems like things bogged down a little bit more. What can you take from that first script, that first drive, and kind of spread it out over the rest of the game?

DG: Yeah, we want to continue to do that. We were explosive in that first drive, and want to continue to create that. But sustaining third downs is where we've got to be better at, and it starts with me, for sure.

Q: Dillon, I think your wide receivers only had two receptions. Is that going to be kind of priority number one as you guys come out of the bye, just to trying to find a way to get Jerry [Jeudy] more involved or –

DG: Yeah, we'll have to watch film and then let the coaches see what the priority is, number one.

Q: Were the targets just not there for him? He didn't have one through three quarters, but were they just not there for those three quarters.

DG: Yeah, just need to be able to spread it out more. I think when you're efficient and you're playing at a high level, everyone is touching it.

Q: Dillon, you had the one third down play where it looked like the ball went off Harold [Fannin Jr.]'s hands, but it looked like Jerry was right behind him. Was that just sort of two guys – one guy maybe in the wrong position? Was that ball intended for Jerry?

DG: It was intended for Jerry, but tough, them being stacked on one another. Trying to get it to him probably earlier in the down, but turned into a scramble drill later.

Q: Did it hurt a lot that they kind of took Quinshon [Judkins] out of the game?

DG: Yeah, Quinshon is really good, and I like when he's in the game.

Q: The pass to [Isaiah] Bond out of bounds, it took you a while to see him. Could you expand on that a little bit?

DG: Yeah, got squeezed and then ended up getting out. But just the yardage was shrinking there. Would have liked to have gotten it to him earlier in the down, but didn't and have to.

Q: What do you feel like you guys can do? Kevin [Stefanski] said he's sticking with you – first of all, let's start with that. How do you feel that Kevin is going to be sticking with you coming out of the bye?

DG: Yeah, we've got to get better.

Q: What can you do?

DG: We've got to get back to work. You've got to get better. It starts with me. Yeah, I don't want to stand up here and say the same old story. We've got to get better, and there's multiple categories, starting with me.

Q: What would you personally do, then, over the bye? I know it's time to kind of regroup a little, but is there anything that you can do to get better?

DG: Yeah, get to watch all of it, look back at it, see where I can be better. There's a lot of areas I can be better, be more efficient, sustain more drives and score more points.

Q: You talk about stepping back and looking at it all. How much does this bye week give you an opportunity to finally step back and see bigger picture – because you're sort of in the moment over these last four or five weeks, just getting ready for each game – that you can sort of "big picture" it?

DG: Yeah, I'll let the coaches and big picture. For me, I'll find those priorities of where I need to be better at, and then I need to get better at it.

Q: Did the Patriots do any any major adjustments to get you out of rhythm after that first drive?

DG: No, I think they just are a very solid team, played really well, sound football, and they made plays and we didn't. That's the name of the game; we've got to make plays, and it starts with me.

Q: …How is this going?

DG: I don't think anybody likes losing.

ADDITIONAL BROWNS PLAYERS

Jack Conklin, T

(On why the offense came out cold)

"We started off great, but I mean, we lost all momentum and just couldn't stick to our game plan, and then we just sit back and throw the ball at the end of the game. It's never a good position for the team to be in."

(On the decision to run more passing plays on offense)

"A lot of it is just first down production. I mean, if you can get four or five yards on first down, then you can get the trust to keep doing it, and we just got to do more of that."

(On the play of Dillon Gabriel)

"You know, it is a road environment, but I think he did a good job. We just got make more plays."

(On going into the bye week with a 2-6 record)

"Definitely not the place where we want to be, but it's a good break. Unfortunately, I thought we had a really good week of practice with a lot of positivity around the team. You can feel it, and to come out and play like this, it's disappointing, but we have nine games left after the bye. We have got to stay together and figure out a way just to play better complimentary ball. You know, really, you know, offensively. Defensively, we played fantastic, I mean, I can't say enough about them. It's the offense, we're letting them down."

(On the play of Myles Garrett)

"I think I am happy that I don't have to block him, that's for sure, but I really just feel bad again. He had five sacks or whatever it was. We can't do anything offensively. It's a bummer."

Denzel Ward, Cornerback

(On how disappointing it is when his teammate Myles Garrett records a career-high five sacks, yet the team couldn't get the win)

"Yeah, it's tough, you know. We just got to find a way, find a way to win. We just didn't play good enough, across the board, including myself, and you know, we just got to do better, be better, and find a way."

(On the efforts of the offensive side of the ball)

"We got to help each other out. We've got to all play complementary football. That's the biggest thing in this game. When we're not doing that, we're going to struggle. So I think that's as simple as it gets. We've just got to all help each other out and play together, and we didn't do that today. So we've got to find a way to do that moving forward as best as we can, and that's going to give us our best chance of winning."

(On Patriots QB Drake Maye)

"Yeah, he's a great quarterback, poised. He came out here, got the win, you know, credit to him. He's a good player for their team. Yeah, they got the job done and we didn't."

(On what's important going into the bye week)

"Yeah, definitely reset. We've got to reset and, you know, come back ready to catch fire. We've got to stick together during these hard times, and we just find a way to get back on track, that's the biggest thing."

(On the Patriots being able to get a couple of good runs against their defense)

"Yeah, I mean, they made some plays, they get paid just like we get paid, and yeah, they were able to make some plays and you know credit to them. We got to watch the film, and see how we get better and eliminate some of those plays."

Wyatt Teller, G

(On the performance in the second half)

"We did some good things on the first drive and stalemated. We went into halftime with a good plan. I just felt like we didn't put it all together. We had a chance to play complimentary football on a turnover and didn't capitalize. [We made] simple mistakes which led to a big disparity in score. It stinks, but we were right there going into the half. A lot of games are tight but we were right there. One bad quarter. It kind of got away from us. Going in the fourth having two good drives. It's just, like, can we get that earlier and be able to establish the run? They kind of did what we wanted to. Misdirection, stuff like that, and just stay with the run and the time of possession and ground, ground."

(On the game plan)

"I feel like Coach formulates plays to where I feel like any play can be explosive. The first drive, going against that defense that hasn't let up an explosive run all year. The first drive, [we had an] explosive run, so we are right there. We're doing the right things. How can we continue to do those right things? The runs might be stopped. First drive they had runs that got stopped. A couple big plays. It was tight. Bend-don't-break defense and to score on the first drive. Awesome. Especially the way we scored on a run action pass. Our guy was wide open, so it just feels like we are right there. We knew we had a good game plan. The same plan that was going to be, we were going to try to stick with it. It just got away from us and we can't run the ball because it takes too much time to run the ball."

(On Dillon Gabriel's performance)

"He' been protecting the ball, 100% ball security so far. A couple balls got away from him and that stinks because I don't know many guys, young guys, or old guys, that work as hard as him. You hate to see it but you know at the end of the day when you're passing the ball a lot there is a chance of bad things happening."

David Njoku, TE

(On his touchdown)

"Dillon threw the ball up, it was a jump ball and I liked my matchup. I came down with it."

(On how the game got away from them)

"I don't know. I am going to have to watch film and figure it out just like everybody else. I have 100% confidence in this offense and there is no quit in this team. We are going to fight until the roof falls off, and hopefully it doesn't fall off."
