EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (June 8, 2006) -- The New York Giants signed former New Orleans Saints tight end Boo Williams and waived tight end Matt Kranchick.

Williams missed the 2005 season after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament in a preseason game and was released by the Saints in February. During the four previous seasons with the Saints, he caught 107 passes for 1,143 yards and 12 touchdowns. He appeared in 59 games and made 22 starts.

Kranchick was signed by the Giants in December from the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad. He appeared in two games, making two tackles on special teams.

The Giants also released safety Jamaal Brimmer, who had been signed in January.
