New York Jets Head Coach Aaron Glenn and select players comment on their game against the New England Patriots on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

HEAD COACH AARON GLENN

Postgame Press Conference
Thursday, November 13, 2025

AG: All right, no injuries to talk about. When it comes to this game, give those guys a lot of credit. That is a well-coached team that has a quarterback that's playing really well, which we all knew. Defensively they did a really good job and we got to do a better job just across the board. There were a number of things within that game. I'm just talking coaches and players that we got to do a better job of. We have this mini break that we have. We'll come back on Monday and get to work and have an extra bonus day to get some work in. But, man, the one thing that really just sticks out is details and discipline. That was a box that we didn't check off today. We have to look at those things, coaches and players alike, and do a better job there. So looking forward to getting back Monday, looking at this film, getting to Monday, getting to work and get ready and move to our next game. Questions.

Q: The first drive was seemingly textbook that Tanner had scripted.

AG: Yeah.

Q: Seemed like the following drives in the first half you got away from Justin running the ball a little bit. What was going on there?

AG: Well the thing is we don't want to make it a habit of our quarterback just continuing to run because we can put him in harm's way. The thing is the plan was to get the ball. And I wanted to get it first and I want the offense to get ball first. The reason why is when you look at how they operated, they've had six times their defense is on the field, it was three touchdowns and two field goals, so I felt like if we get a fast start we'll be in a good position. And Justin ran the ball quite a bit. The thing is we, man, can't put Justin in a situation where that's a running back and I think we all know that because we will put him in harm's way. You're right, he did a good job on some of those runs. We just have to be calculated when we do those things.

Q: You talk about details and discipline. Are you referring to penalties or something else?

AG: Well, just across the board. I have very high standards for our team in general. That's the one thing that we talk about quite a bit, and I will never go away from those standards. The players know that and they have bought into that and they know that too. When I say details and discipline, again I am not just talking about the players. I am talking about us as coaches, too. We have to make sure we're on the same page and we're doing the things we have to do to help those guys. So this is not a one-way street where everything is on the players. Coaches are involved in it that too.

Q: I know you have to watch the film, but how do you think Justin played overall?

AG: Listen, there were some good things, really good things. I thought he put some balls out there. We got to have some guys that make some plays for him, too. I know for a fact he's going to say there are some things he can do better. We have to watch the tape, but I thought there were some good things he did out there.

Q: What were some of the issues that contributed to I think it was 116 yards passing only?

AG: Say that again.

Q: What were some of the issues that contributed to the struggles with the passing game?

AG: Again, I'll go back and say I'm sure there are some things Justin is going to say I could have done better, could have made some plays. Then again, there are some plays out there our guys got make for him also, and you'll be able to see that as you go back and watch the tape. Again, we're all accountable for that as far as coaches. Make sure we put our guys in the right position. The receivers, make sure they catch the ball. Then we can say Justin, make sure he's getting the ball to some other guys. But to me that was really it, because there were some plays to be made out there. I thought he had some really good throws. We just got to finish those.

Q: The quarterback is playing at a high level right now, but he had some guys running wide open.

AG: Yes.

Q: What did you see secondary breaking...

AG: You know, that I really have to watch the tape to give you a true answer on that. I'm not trying to run away from that answer at all, but that did happen. It was a number plays where guys were running and that bothers me. It really does. We have to clean that up, because you can't let any quarterback have those type of wide open receivers, especially him, because he will find them. So like that can't be a part of who we are. It was unacceptable.

Q: The pass rush not getting home, do you think was that a result of the protection holding up or was it just Drake moving around within the pocket?

AG: It was very obvious that we were worried about Will. You see he got chipped a number of times, and when he does get the chip, we got to have other guys go out there and make plays. I will say this, too. We were back there a couple times to make it and just missed the plays. That's something we got to do a better job of is finishing. So I told our guys that. Number of times we should have had the quarterback corralled, should've had him on the ground, and didn't finish the play.

Q: Mitchell got in there with his debut.

AG: Yeah.

Q: What were your takeaways?

AG: Listen, he's a big, fast -- he's going to be a good player for us. I mean, he missed some balls today. I think we all saw that. Him being here for two weeks and having truly a week of really going out there and practicing, we got to get him back out there and do more. But I think he will tell you himself he's got to make some of the plays that was thrown to him and we got to do a better job of trying to get him open also.

Q: You said some nice things about Drake and you saw it on tape.

AG: About who?

Q: Drake Maye. What did you see in person that's striking about him?

AG: Nothing different. We know he's a good player, so nothing different.

QUARTERBACK JUSTIN FIELDS

Postgame Press Conference
Thursday, November 13, 2025

Q: Justin, how would you assess your performance tonight?

JF: Not good enough. You know, we lost the game, so wasn't good enough. Every time we lose, my performance isn't good enough.

Q: What was working on that first drive? Seemed like you had some rhythm and just kind of momentum.

JF: Yeah, I mean, we were executing. We were getting good plays. Run game was good. O-line was controlling the line of scrimmage, and everybody was doing their job. So, that first drive, we came out hot and punched it in.

Q: (inaudible)

JF: Whatever I have to do to get this team as successful as can be and for us to reach our highest potential, I'm willing to do whatever. So if that's me running the ball, that's what it is.

Q: How difficult is it when you have two receivers who have only been here for like a week or less and a lot of guys you aren't too familiar with. How much of an impact is that on you?

JF: You kind of just have to roll with it and deal with it. You can't look at your circumstances. Just got to go out there and play. I thought those guys did a good job, you know, overall. Lot of plays we want back as an offense, but we just got to keep working and keep going. I mean, yeah, it's tough, but at the end of the day you can't complain about it. It's the circumstances we're in right now. I know we're going to come back next week and get back to work.

Q: How big a blow is it not having Garrett?

JF: I mean, it's a big blow. Like I said, it's our circumstances. It is what it is. These guys are going continue getting ops and we're just going to keep building.

ADDITIONAL JETS PLAYERS

Brandon Stephens, CB

(On the defense's performance)

"We are going to go back and look at the film. There is a lot to look at, so we will look at the film and see. It takes all 11 to shut down the run, so the guys up front did a good job stopping it, especially our linebackers and DBs (defensive backs) coming up and making tackles. That was what we needed to do."

(On getting back to work and improving)

"Obviously we didn't come out with the win. There's other stuff we should have done better, but we'll take a look at the film. We are just trying to grow each and every day. Just be 1% better and finish the week 1-0 with a win and we weren't able to do that. But the ship doesn't stop here. We still have more ball to play and we'll come back to work."

Will McDonald IV, EDGE

(On the result of the game)

"I think to sum it up, we lost the game. We've got to play better than that. I've got to play better than that. We've got to execute a little bit better. You've got to execute and hit better. Like I said, I've got to play better. I've got to do better. Ultimately, we lost the game. We've got to execute our pitch. We've got to get the ball back to our offense."

(On the lack of forced turnovers)

"We've got to keep (trying to get) turnovers, keep punching the ball out against the quarterback more. Like I said, we have to execute better on defense. We've got to win the game."

(On forcing multiple three-and-outs)

"Those were some good positives. That was the only one, so we've got to get more than that on the defensive side to get the ball back to our offense. Our offense has to go down and score, and we have to go back on defense and get the ball back to our offense. Ultimately, like I said, I feel like I didn't play as good as I need to and our defense has to do better on our execution."

Adonai Mitchell, WR

(On missing the long pass)

"It was definitely a situation, if I could get it back — I'd think more — I would go up and attack the ball instead of letting it come down. I misjudged the ball, and at the end of the day, I have to be better on that. It was a great pass, so should have been explosive for the Jets."

(On the change in the offense after the first drive)

"I don't know, I guess we'll just watch the tape as an offense and kind of go from there. But, if I could really pinpoint anything, I'd point the finger at myself and say I need to perform better. I need to, I just need to do better."

(On the conversations on the sidelines with the offense)

"Just more so encouraging words, kind of from everybody, to everybody. Because, I mean, the game was, the game wasn't over until it was over. And, that didn't really come until very late in the fourth quarter. I felt like we had a chance the whole game. So just, everybody just stand up, staying encouraged, and staying together."

Quincy Williams, LB

(On being called on to play this week)

"Like I said earlier today, I just let God handle that, and then me staying focused and being ready when my number is called. Then, earlier this week, I got my number called and they told me that I earned my spot back from the last game. So, I was ready to go today."

(On the performance of Drake Maye and the Patriots offense)

"Yeah, he is a nice quarterback. But what the offense does well is, they are a consistent offense. They run their plays and they're not going to do any trick stuff like that. They are going to tell you all to stop us, so they might run the same plays 10 times. You have to be right 10 times, or that one time you're not right, that's going to be that big play that they make or the big run that they had."

(On only having one takeaway in 10 games)

"That is what we have to focus on. That was our message after, and that was our message during the 3rd quarter, is defensive takeaways and practicing it. It's not good enough. I am going be honest with you, having our mindset now on takeaways is going to be the way we win. Also, scoring on defense, and then getting the ball to the offense as many times as possible."

(On his impression of Drake Maye)

"He is a nice quarterback, and like I said, that offense is built around him. The biggest thing is being consistent. The whole team, with the run and the pass, and forcing you to be play consistently. That one time that you're out of position that is going to be their big play, or the one time you're not in your gap, that's going be their big run."

(On running back TreVeyon Henderson's [performance])

"He is nice and he going to be nice, for real. I like him. He is a hard runner. Most importantly, he keeps his feet running and I like that by the running back, too, though."
