The Denver Broncos jumped up quickly 14-0. Then the Patriots came back and score thirteen points of their own in the second quarter to be behind by only one point at the half.
The Broncos scored on a 2 yard run by Terrell Davis and a 13 yard interception return by John Mobley.
Then the Patriots roared back with a 44 yard pass reception by Keith Byars and Vinatieri kicked through two field goals.
The second half was solely controlled by the Broncos who went on a 20 point tear. John Elway and Terrell Davis ran in touchdowns to put the Patriots away.
A strong defensive effort were boasted by Willie Clay, who picked off two balls in the 34-13 loss.
Pats first loss of season occurs at Mile High
The Patriots lost their first game at Mile High Stadium. This match-up was the latest in the season that two undefeated teams had met on Monday Night Football.
