Jags agree to terms with Meier, Gilbert

The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to new contracts with defensive tackle Rob Meier and linebacker Tony Gilbert.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 1, 2006) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to new contracts with defensive tackle Rob Meier and linebacker Tony Gilbert.

Meier, an unrestricted free agent and the top backup to Marcus Stroud and John Henderson, had 47 tackles and a career-high six sacks last season after missing most of 2004 with a broken leg.

Gilbert, a restricted free agent, was one of Jacksonville's top special teams players. He had nine special teams tackles last season and seven tackles on defense.
