FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots' 2011 preseason opponents were announced today and the schedule includes a nationally-televised game at Detroit on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 8:00 p.m. on CBS. The exact dates and times for the other three preseason games will be announced at a later date.
Fans will get their first look at the 2011 New England Patriots when they open the preseason at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars between Aug. 11-15. That is also the weekend of the Patriots' annual alumni reunion. Starting in August of 2009, the summer after The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon opened, the Patriots began a new tradition of hosting their alumni at that opening game. This year will mark the third consecutive season that past Patriots will return to Foxborough to visit The Hall, attend a game, tell tales and share some of their most memorable moments with family and friends.
The Patriots will be on the road for the next two preseason games with a visit to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers between Aug. 18-22 and the nationally-televised game at Detroit on Aug. 27. The Patriots will close out the 2011 preseason with a home date against the New York Giants on either Sept. 1 or Sept. 2. This will be the seventh straight season that the Patriots and Giants have met in the preseason-finale.
All four of the Patriots' preseason games will be televised in the Boston market on WBZ-TV. A network of regional affiliates will also broadcast the games in Preseason Weeks 1, 2 and 4 on the Patriots Preseason TV Network. Fans throughout New England should check their local listings for exact stations and times.
