FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today the re-signing of C Dan Koppen. In addition, the Patriots signed first-year K Chris Koepplin. Terms of the contracts were not announced.

Koppen, 32, is a veteran of nine seasons with the Patriots after joining the team as a fifth round draft pick (164th overall) out of Boston College in 2003. Last season, Koppen was limited to one game before being placed on injured reserve with a leg injury that occurred in the season-opener at Miami on Sept. 12.

Koppen, 6-2, 296 pounds, has started in 120 of 121 regular season games and 14 postseason games over his nine NFL seasons and has been a part of eight division championships, four conference championships and two Super Bowl crowns.

Koppen earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2007 and was selected to the Associated Press All-Pro Second Team after contributing to an offense that set all-time NFL records with 589 points and 75 touchdowns.

Koepplin, 26, went to training camp with the Patriots in 2011 after joining the team as a free agent on July 27, 2011. The 6-3, 210-pounder was released on Aug. 29, 2011. Koepplin played two seasons at UMass in 2006 and 2007 after transferring from Nassau Community College. At UMass, he became the career record holder in PAT percentage (98.0) and was second in field goal percentage (71.0). Koepplin played for the Manchester Wolves of the Arena Football 2 League in 2008 and 2009.
