FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots waived first-year punter Rhett Kopp today.

Kopp, 28, was signed by the Patriots as a free agent on April 30, 2005. The 5-foot-10-inch punter appeared in both of the Patriots preseason contests, booting a 37-yard punt at Cincinnati (8/12/05) and a 42-yard punt against New Orleans (8/18/05). The Carson-Newman product averaged 36.1 yards per punt as a senior in 1999. In 2003, he was signed by the St. Louis Rams, but was released before the start of the season
