Rapid Recap: Patriots Pound Jets 42-10, Complete Perfect 8-0 Road Record

The Patriots scored early and often in a Week 16 blowout win over the New York Jets, getting their 13th victory of the 2025 season and completing a perfect 8-0 road record.

The Patriots scored touchdowns on each of their first five possessions on Sunday against the Jets at MetLife Stadium, quickly building a double-digit lead and running away with a blowout 13th win of the 2025 season, 42-10.

Despite a long list of injury absences, the Patriots dominated their divisional rivals from the jump. Drake Maye had a nearly perfect first half, throwing four touchdowns with a 156.5 passer rating. He was lifted in the third quarter after throwing his fifth touchdown of the day, while Stefon Diggs had over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown, playing a key role with the injury absences of Mack Hollins and Kayshon Boutte.

New England piled up big plays both through the air and on the ground, while the defense forced an early turnover and held the Jets offense in check throughout the game.

The win means that the Pats have completed a perfect 8-0 road record in 2025, just the third time in franchise history, including 2007 and 2016 that New England has not lost away from home, and will now wait to see the results of the upcoming Bills-Eagles games to see if they've clinched the AFC East or will need another win next week over the Dolphins to seal the division title.

Here's how the big win unfolded!

1. Fast Start Pats

Drake Maye and the Patriots wasted little time taking an early lead after receiving the opening kickoff. They didn't face a third down, with Maye completing big plays to Stefon Diggs (12 yards) and Hunter Henry (13 yards), and Rhamondre Stevenson getting things going on the ground with 33 rushing yards on three carries, including a 24-yard run.

Without ace run blocker Mack Hollins, Josh McDaniels leaned into a jumbo package with third tackle Thayer Munford, and it helped jumpstart the attack.

Austin Hooper finished it off with a toe-tapping touchdown reception in the back of the end zone from two yards out. The seven-play, 61-yard drive made it 7-0 Patriots less than five minutes into the game.

2. Pats Keep Rolling

After a Jets three-and-out, the Pats would continue to pour it on early, with rookie receiver Efton Chism III grabbing his first career reception and taking it for 30 yards. A Jets pass interference penalty on Kyle Williams added another 18 yards to set up New England on the New York one-yard line.

Stevenson finished this drive off one play later with another touchdown to make it 14-0 Patriots. Once again, New England didn't face a third down as they executed a seven-play, 85-yard drive. It was a dominating start by the Patriots; they picked up 10 first downs on their first 14 offensive plays.

3. Defense Takes It Away

The defense got in on the hot start on the Jets second possession, with Jaylinn Hawkins picking off Brady Cook's third-down downfield pass. It was the third interception of the year for Hawkins, tying him for the team lead with Marcus Jones.

The Jets had just 13 total net yards through the first quarter, while Maye started a perfect 8-for-8 for 113 yards and a touchdown.

Maye would quickly add another touchdown toss on his first throw of the second quarter. Facing a 3rd-and-7 from the Jets 22, Maye lobbed a perfect pass to Stevenson for his second touchdown of the game. It was a third-straight seven-play touchdown drive and it extended New England's lead to 21-0.

4. Jets Get Three, But Pats Keep Rolling

The Jets would respond on their third possession, sparked by an opening 19-yard run by Breece Hall on the drive's first play. Even though they'd threaten into New England's red zone, the Patriots defense stepped up with a stop, forcing the Jets to settle for a field goal that made it 21-3.

But Maye and the Patriots offense would not let up, hitting Stefon Diggs for 21 yards on their first play of the next drive. The Jets would show more resistance on this drive, it needed 11 plays instead of seven, but the Patriots were relentless. Maye converted a fourth down with a scramble, and then the Patriots stayed aggressive from the Jets three-yard line, going for a second fourth down and converting it for a touchdown with a three-yard pass to Diggs.

The Pats defense forced another three-and-out from the Jets and the offense kept attacking, adding a 10-play, 91-yard touchdown drive. Diggs continued to tear up the Jets, going over 100 receiving yards in the first half. Hunter Henry became the fourth different receiver in the game to grab a touchdown reception as New England made it 35-3 at halftime.

It was a near-perfect first half for the offense: five drives, five touchdowns. Maye was also near perfect, completing 17-of-19 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns.

5. Chism Gets Six

The Jets pulled out the stops on their first possession of the second half, attempting two fake punts. The first was successful, but the second was not, and just like that New York was giving the ball back to Maye and the Patriots offense.

It was more of the same from New England. This time, it would take just six plays for their next touchdown, a 10-yard pass to the rookie Chism. That made it 42-3 and six straight touchdown drives for the Patriots offense.

The touchdown made Drake Maye the fourth Patriots quarterback in team history to throw five TD passes in a game. He was lifted with five minutes to play in the third quarter for backup Josh Dobbs.

Maye finished 19-of-21 for 256 yards with five touchdowns.

With New England's backups taking over, Breece Hall ripped off a 59-yard touchdown run at the start of the fourth quarter to get the Jets to double-digit points.

6. Patriots are 13-3

With the dominant win, the Patriots move to 13-3 while completing a perfect 8-0 record on the road for the first time since 2016, and just the third time in franchise history. The Pats also keep pace in the conference and division, while they'll have to wait until the end of the Bills-Eagles contest this afternoon to know if they've clinched the AFC East or if they'll need one more win next week over the Dolphins to sew up the divisional title.

It was another impressive road victory, and the most lopsided win of the season for the Patriots. They'll hope to ride that momentum into Week 18 against the Dolphins and onto the postseason. Maye looked every bit the MVP candidate, while it was just the kind of confidence-inspiring win that can serve as a springboard into January.
