The New England Patriots improved to a 6-2 record after a 32-13 win against Cleveland last week for their fifth-straight win. The Patriots will return to the confines of Gillette Stadium this week when they host the Atlanta Falcons. The Patriots have won six straight regular season games against Atlanta, tied with Cleveland for the longest active winning streak. In addition, the Falcons are one of six teams that the Patriots are undefeated against at Gillette Stadium. New England is 2-0 against the Falcons at Gillette Stadium. A week after facing Cleveland, who entered the game with the NFL's top ranked defense, the Patriots will square off against Atlanta's defense, which is ranked second in the NFL.

SERIES HISTORY

The New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons will meet for the first time since a Thursday Night Football game on Nov. 18, 2021 in Atlanta, a 25-0 New England victory. The Falcons will travel to Gillette Stadium for the third time overall and for the first time since a 23-7 New England win on Oct. 22, 2017.

The Patriots enter this week with a streak of seven straight wins against the Falcons, including a come-from-behind 34-28 overtime win in Super Bowl LI against the Falcons.

The Patriots lead the all-time series with a 10-6 record, including a 4-2 record in home games and 2-0 record in games played in Gillette Stadium following a 26-10 win on Sept. 27, 2009 and a 23-7 win on Oct. 22, 2017.

The Patriots beat the Falcons, 34-28 in overtime in Super Bowl LI after overcoming a 28-3 deficit on Feb. 5, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

The Patriots have won the last six times the teams have played in the regular season. Prior to those six wins, the Patriots had suffered four straight losses to the Falcons, dating back to 1989.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR...

  • The Patriots have won five straight games following the 32- 13 victory vs. Cleveland. A victory this week against Atlanta will give the Patriots a six-game winning streak, their longest winning streak since a seven-game winning streak during the 2021 season.
  • The Patriots lead the NFL with 15 winning streaks of at least six games since 2001. The Patriots will have their 16th streak of at least six straight wins if they beat Atlanta this week.
  • The Patriots followed a 175-yard rushing performance at Tennessee with a season-high 177 yards rushing last week vs. Cleveland. If the Patriots rush for at least 170 yards this week against Atlanta, it will be the first time doing so in at least three weeks since a five-game streak in 1988 when they rushed for 176 yards at Buffalo (10/23), 185 yards vs. Chicago (10/30), 203 yards vs. Miami (11/6), 177 yards at the New York Jets (11/13) and 170 yards at Miami (11/20).
  • The Patriots are undefeated against six teams in the regular season at Gillette Stadium since it opened in 2002, including 2-0 against the Falcons.
  • A Patriots win this week would be their seventh straight regular season win against Atlanta. The Patriots have won six straight games against Atlanta in the regular season, tied with Cleveland for New England's longest active streak.
  • The Patriots have scored 30 points in their last two games with a 31-13 win at Tennessee and a 32-13 win against Cleveland. If the Patriots score at least 30 points this week against Atlanta, it will be the first time the Patriots have scored at least 30 points in three straight games since the 2019 season – 33-7 at Washington (10/6), 35-14 vs. the New York Giants (10/10) and 33-0 at the New York Jets (10/21).
  • The Patriots are the only team in 2025 that has not surrendered 50 yards to a running back through the first eight games. It is the first time in team history that has occurred. The longest streak since the merger is 10 by Tampa Bay in 2020. Mike Vrabel's Tennessee Titans also had a streak of eight games in 2021.
  • The 2025 Patriots team is second to Seattle (75.7) in the NFL against the run, allowing 76.0 rushing yards per game. The Patriots record for fewest rushing yards allowed per game since the NFL merger is 88.6 in 2016.
  • The Patriots defense is allowing just 3.51 yards per rush through the first eight games of the season, the second-lowest mark in the NFL in 2025 to Seattle (3.29). The team record is 3.3 yards per game, set in 2023.
  • With CB Marcus Jones' 87-yard punt return for a touchdown vs. Carolina (9/28) and RB Antonio Gibson's 90-yard kickoff return touchdown at Miami (9/14), it marked the fourth season that the Patriots have returned at least one punt and one kickoff for a touchdown in the same season. The Patriots have also returned both a punt and kick for a touchdown in 1980, 2010 and 2012. Of those seasons, only the 2010 season had multiple returns for a touchdown. That year, the Patriots returned one punt for a touchdown and two kickoffs for touchdowns.
  • QB Drake Maye had his seventh straight game with a 100-plus passer rating after finishing with a 135.8 passer rating in the win vs. Cleveland. Maye will try for his eighth straight game this week against Atlanta to tie the Patriots team record and join Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Lamar Jackson as the only players with at least an eight-game streak. The Patriots record in a single season is eight straight games by Brady in 2007 and 2010. The NFL record for a single season is 12 consecutive games by Rodgers in 2011.
